The College of Science is deeply committed to upholding the values of anti-racism, diversity, racial justice and equity — cornerstones of institutional and scientific excellence. Through our rich collection of people, ideas and perspectives, we engage in a healthy, constructive dialogue to learn, inform our research and make discoveries.

We are excited to embark on this new chapter of bringing our Strategic Diversity Action Plan into reality. We are grateful for the tireless dedication of students and faculty who made the plan possible and are eagerly expecting a new age in science that redefines what it means to be a responsible community.

The College of Science’s 2021 Strategic Diversity Action Plan is a community plan reflecting the many priorities and values of College of Science community members deliberated in dialogue and conversation.

Recognizing the past and present contributions of Indigenous people

We acknowledge that Oregon State University in Corvallis, OR is located in the traditional territory of the Chepenefa ("Mary's River") band of the Kalapuya. After the Kalapuya Treaty (Treaty of Dayton) in 1855, Kalapuya people were forcibly removed to what are now the Grand Ronde and Siletz reservations, and are now members of Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon and the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Our support for Indigenous people goes beyond this land acknowledgement and extends to learning, empathizing and involvement.
