Transfer students are an integral and active part of our science community, and our inspiring science faculty and professional advising team are here to guide you.

Oregon State is the largest university in the state. While that may seem intimidating, we have a strong community with people, student clubs and academic support services to help you succeed.

One of the biggest benefits of pursuing your degree on our main campus is the opportunity to get involved in our thriving science community to make the most of your undergraduate education at OSU.

With some careful planning, you can participate in experiential learning opportunities that are valued by employers and graduate and professional schools. Pursue internships, research work in a lab, study abroad opportunities and get involved in one of our 400+ student clubs and organizations.

Am I a transfer student?

You are a transfer student if you have completed a minimum of 24 quarter (16 semester) graded, transferable credits from a regionally accredited college or university; have been admitted to OSU; and obtained a high school diploma or equivalent over a year ago.

Tips on transferring into the College of Science and OSU

• Explore our Course Articulation Tool to look up course equivalencies from your current school.
• Be in good academic standing.
• Communicate regularly with your advisor to see how you are progressing toward your goals.

Transfer orientation

OSU offers special orientation sessions to assist you in your transition to the university. The Office of New Student Programs and Family Outreach presents START orientation sessions. See the schedule below.

Starting fall or summer term on OSU’s Corvallis campus

You will need to attend a Transfer START program during the summer. In this required orientation session, you'll receive academic advising, register for fall term courses, learn about the many resources helpful to your transition and success and meet fellow new students to start building your community and your new life at OSU.

If you are starting courses Summer term, you still need to attend a START program to register for Fall term classes.

Starting winter or spring term on OSU’s Corvallis campus

You will attend a Term Orientation program focused on academic advising, registering for classes and learning about resources that will help your transition to academic and campus life.
